Frequently Asked Questions About This Expedition
What Certification Do I Need for the Brothers – Daedalus – Elphinstone Expedition?
We recommend a minimum certification level of Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) or an equivalent qualification for this expedition. As this itinerary includes offshore dive sites with stronger currents and deeper dives, previous experience is a significant advantage.
Can I Complete a Diving Course During the Expedition?
Yes. During the liveaboard, you can complete selected PADI Specialty courses, including Enriched Air (Nitrox), Deep Diver, Drift Diver, and Peak Performance Buoyancy. If you’re interested in taking a course, we recommend letting us know when you book so we can prepare everything in advance.
Is It Worth Taking a Nitrox Course Before or During the Expedition?
Absolutely. Nitrox is highly recommended on liveaboards, as it helps you make the most of your no-decompression limits during repetitive dives. If you’re not yet Nitrox certified, you can complete the course during the expedition.
What Sharks Can I Encounter During the Expedition?
The most commonly encountered species include hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, grey reef sharks, and other pelagic marine life. As these are wild animals, sightings can never be guaranteed.
Pelagic species are large marine animals that inhabit the open ocean, including sharks, manta rays, and tuna.
Can Technical Diving Equipment or CCR Support Be Arranged?
Yes. Upon request, we can provide twinsets, stage cylinders, Nitrox, Trimix, and support for CCR diving. All technical diving requirements must be arranged before the expedition begins.
How Many Dives Will I Do During the Expedition?
During a one-week liveaboard, you’ll typically complete 18 to 22 dives, depending on the itinerary, weather, and sea conditions. The schedule usually includes daytime and early morning dives, and on some itineraries, night dives as well.
