Frequently Asked Questions About This Expedition
Is this expedition suitable for recreational divers?
Yes. This expedition is primarily designed for divers certified as Advanced Open Water Divers or equivalent. Experience with drift diving is an advantage, as some dive sites may have stronger currents.
How many dives will we do during the liveaboard?
During a week-long liveaboard, you will typically complete 16 to 20 dives, depending on the weather, sea conditions, and the final itinerary. Most days include up to four dives.
What diving equipment should I bring?
We recommend bringing your own mask, dive computer, SMB, and other personal diving equipment. Full scuba gear can be rented on board with advance reservation.
Is Nitrox recommended?
Absolutely. On a liveaboard with multiple dives each day, Nitrox helps extend your no-decompression limits and reduce fatigue. You can also complete your Nitrox certification before the expedition.
Is the expedition itinerary fixed?
The itinerary includes the most iconic dive sites of the Northern Red Sea, including SS Thistlegorm, Abu Nuhas, Ras Mohammed, and the Dahab area. The exact itinerary may vary slightly depending on the weather and sea conditions. The captain always makes the final decision.
Can I use a DPV (underwater scooter) during the expedition?
Yes. At selected dive sites such as SS Thistlegorm and Abu Nuhas, you can use a DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle) by prior arrangement. Its use depends on the site conditions, the dive guide’s decision, and the diver’s experience.
